I’ve been inspired lately by vintage 1800-era illustrations, which were the fuel for this clock-themed vintage/steampunk New Year’s Eve inspiration board. It’s a great way to combine vintage with extra glitz – Happy 2012!
1. The Invitation
The invitation is inspired from a men’s pocketwach from a late 1880’s catalog. You could use the same vintage/clock idea for a steampunk party, too. You can find it in our etsy shop.
2. Tilting Clock Cake
This fabulous, tipsy cake is from Mike’s Amazing Cakes. His entire gallery of cakes is pretty spectacular.
3. Decorate with Clocks
An easy way to get your home into the theme is to put clocks everywhere. You can get old ones at a second-hand store, or just borrow some from your neighbors. I especially love the idea of stacking them up as a centerpiece of the dessert buffet. This great collection of clocks is from Mitzi’s Collectables.
4. Sparkler Favors
Weddings are using sparklers as a favor, and we loved the wedding featured on the Ruffled Blog that used this simple, pretty way to have them ready for guests. The original idea was submitted to Ruffled by Katie at Carla Ten Eyck.
5. Countdown Cookies
These clever countdown cookies are from the i am mommy blog. Too cute, and you could do them in any color scheme.
6. New Year’s Cootie Catcher
Wow – I love this simple, fun idea from Designs by Tenisha on etsy. You can download a digital file from her for only $10, and then print as many clever party favors as you need.
7. Glittery Cupcake Toppers
These cute glittery cupcake toppers can be found at UniqPaperCreations on etsy.
8. Lighted Sparkling Garland
This idea from Apartment Therapy is a simple and classic way to add some sparkle to your party (but I’d be tempted to leave it up year round!).
