Pipsy sells a lot of chalkboard invitations: for birthdays, bridal showers, and even Kentucky Derby parties! We’ve been making them for years, and they are just as popular as ever. So when I saw this idea from Ashlee Marie, I just had to share. She has come up with a recipe for chalkboard cookies with EDIBLE chalk! That is the most clever take I’ve seen on this trend, and I can’t wait to serve these cookies at a party!
You can watch Ashlee Marie‘s tutorial below, but please pop over to her website for the full written recipe!

The Valentine’s Day class parties are tomorrow, and I just bumped into this awesome tutorial by TheCakeGirls.com that is in keeping with our emoji theme. (Be sure to check out last week’s post on the emoji craft and emoji cupcakes.)
These couldn’t be easier to make! You use candy melts and pre-made hearts and eyeballs. Quick, easy, and perfect for a last minute mom (isn’t that all of us?).

The elementary school Valentine’s Day parties are next week, so we are getting our crafts and snacks ready. This year, I’m volunteering for my daughter’s 5th grade class. We decided to go with an emoji theme, and came up with some DIY tutorials for both cupcakes and bookmarks.
The big sister of one of the girls in the class is the super talented Molly from Simply Sweet Desserts. I asked her if she had any ideas for emoji snacks, and in no time at all, she sent me this adorable video! Check out her instagram feed – she posts some amazing photos and videos of all of her sweets.
The craft is hard, because by 5th grade they are capable of a lot, but are also tired of all of the picture frames and heart insects they’ve done since kindergarten. We decided to try bookmarks, and the put an emoji spin on them.
They are surprisingly easy to make. The only hard part is cutting out the tiny pieces for the faces. If the kids are younger, they can just use markers to draw them on.
TIP: When you are trimming from squares to circles, don’t trim everything – just the corners. You need the two folded sides to be intact so the bookmarks don’t fall apart.

I have been so busy filling orders this Christmas season, that I realized this morning I’ve barely done any Christmas baking. Rather than just pop out some snickerdoodles, I decided to be ambitious and attempted these adorable penguins in Christmas sweaters from TheCakeGirls.com! They have the DIY tutorial on their blog and sell the penguin cookie cutters, too!
